Let us pray: Father, your word says, in Psalm 34:8-9 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.” In Jesus' name. Amen!
Now I know some of you are probably wondering what is the thump. I’m glad you asked. Back in the day, there was this wrestling show called WWF and they probably still have it to this day because it was a form of entertainment that came on the television. The show had matches where they would put two wrestlers in the ring and they would go up against each other. At one point in order to make it more exciting one wrestler would pick up the other wrestler, flip him in the air, and throw him on the mat while landing on top of him. He would raise one leg and the referee would count One, Two, Three…Ding, Ding, would go the bell and you win! Now that's called the thump. Now it's all modernized with you got the beat down.
Let me tell it, I invented the thump because of this story I am getting ready to tell you. I remember one day when I was probably in the third grade and I remember it like it was yesterday. It was time to go outside for recess and we were playing tag. This little boy runs up behind me and says, tag you’re it. I remember I had a cute dress on and some cute little sandals. Oh, don’t get it twisted. I did not like dresses and being cute. I was a little country girl who was called a tomboy. So, he said, tag you’re it and immediately I ran after him to catch him but while I was running the strap on my sandals broke but that didn't stop me because I was determined to catch him. When I caught up with the little boy, before I knew it I grabbed him, picked him up and I thumped him on the ground. All I could hear was him screaming for help! but that didn't stop me because now you broke my sandal strap. I found myself not letting him up with my knee in his chest, yes, I was in the third grade, but I heard the voice of my teacher screaming my name and I remember saying to my teacher but he made me break my sandal.
Isn't that like some of us today, no matter the reason for our behavior especially if it's wrong, we don't want to listen to what's right. That day I had a point to prove. You got thumped!
In this Christian walk, I know we can find plenty of scriptures for doing the right thing but I am so glad that when God decided to recruit me for His Glory, He didn't change the fight in me, He said you're on the wrong team. He said I will give you power and authority over the enemy and he shall be under your feet. He said I will equip you with weapons that your enemy has to bow down to. You will win against him as long as you stay under the shadow of the Almighty and in my will. I had to think about it and I asked myself a question. Why would I allow myself to come to your level when I can walk heavy in the spirit? The scriptures say in Ephesians 6:12 "That we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." I have been given authority to pimp slap the devil. God said I want to use that fighting spirit of yours for my glory. My answer is yes! Your enemy, my enemy. That means I'm legal with this thing, right? That's my understanding because I don't do jail. As long as I'm not going to jail... you all act like I'm the only one who is thug country up in here.
Let me empower you. Our God who has all power over all has given us as believers, the authority, right, and privilege to put the thump on the devil and get him out of our lives, out of our situations, out of our finances. In Jesus' name.
Let me share with you a dream I recently had. In the dream, I found myself lying on the floor in the dark with someone breaking into the room where I was. As I was lying on the floor, the person put a gun in my back and said there you are and then he reached and took the money lying on my nightstand and ran out of the room. There is more but that's all I want to share. How many of you know that when you're on the right team, God will not allow the enemy to succeed at his attempts to steal, kill, and destroy? You can't break in and expect me to do nothing. I serve a God who is more powerful than the enemy coming against my finances. You can't have my finances. The scriptures say, in 1 John 4:4 "Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world." For those who belong to Him and those who are in the right standing with Him, God will show us the plans of the enemy so that we are not caught unaware. That was a dream of warning. I know I'm on the right team. Are you? It's not too late to sign up!
