Let us Pray: Father, your word states in Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Hallelujah, in Jesus' name. Amen!
Have you ever come across a scorpion inside your house? I was completely surprised when it happened to me. On January 2nd, while my husband and I were preparing for the new year, we were startled by the sight of a live scorpion on the floor. My husband was standing and when he turned around to go into the kitchen he calmly requested that I hand him a shoe. When the pest control worker came to our house, I began to ask questions. The young man's response was that scorpions tend to hang around the foundation until they find a way in. I heard God say that sometimes we need to check the foundation for openings or cracks where the enemy can take up residence. He said behold, I give unto you the power to tread.
Luke 10:19 says, "Behold, I give you the power to tread (to walk on, to crush) on serpents and scorpions, and over all (to the greatest extent) the power of the enemy: and nothing (not a single thing) shall by any means hurt you." According to the scripture I just quoted, God has given us the power to tread. The word power in this scripture means authority. God has given us the authority to tread.
After hearing the news, I was left alone. The reality of it all hit me and I started speaking to my enemy. What are you doing here? Why are you in my house? You don't belong here. I didn't invite you in. You came to shake me, you came to hurt me, you came to bring fear, you came to cause anguish, you came to cause pain, you came to disturb my peace. Now that I have identified why you are here illegally, you came as my enemy. In the name of Jesus, I take authority over you. I have been given the power to tread over you and to crush your head. On that day, my husband found a shoe and he crushed it. You picked the wrong house.
Matthew 7:24 says, "Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man who built his house upon a rock." Christ is the foundation on which I stand. Building upon a solid foundation can help us withstand anything. Make sure that your foundation is built on solid rock to have authority over the enemy. I am not just singing "I don't know what you came to do". I know exactly what you came to do. However, the scriptures assure me that the One who is in me is greater than the one who is in the world.
The power of the enemy is recognized in the word of God, but the power given to us is greater and able to destroy and crush his head.
