Let us pray: Father, your words says, in Psalm 34:8 "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" In Jesus' name. Amen!
While growing up in the country we had a lot of opportunities to explore and to discover. I remember one cousin who would go fishing all of the time. He would take 2 fishing poles, a bucket for his catch and a plenty of hooks. He wouldn't take minnows he would take earth worms that he dugged up out of the ground. Another thing I noticed is that he would get up early in the morning and would be gone all day but he would never come back empty handed. Why? Because he had the right bait. I can imagine a lot of time, skill set and patience went into his preparation.
Might I suggest that the enemy takes a lot of time, skill set and patience that goes into his preparation of putting the right bait on the hook for you. Don't take the bait! The bait is to devour you. The reason my cousin would go fishing is to catch a fish and to eat it. You don't throw a hook in the water with nothing on it and expect to catch something. You have to place whatever the fish desires in front of it in order to lure it to take the bait. The enemy is always looking for ways to lead you to the bait in order to devour you.
The scripture tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Did you know that the word devour means to eat up, to destroy, to consume, to slay, to annihilate. He doesn't just want to shut you down he wants to do away with you entirely. He wants you to cease to exist. Especially when you are effective for the kingdom of God. If we were to take that word devour and add it to our vocabulary and declare with it our voice when we enter into spiritual warfare then the enemy has to beware and alert. Let it be said by the enemy oh here she comes again. Let it be said by the enemy oh she woke up speaking in tongues. Let it be said by the enemy we have to watch because you never know which way she is coming. Don't let it be said we got another one because you took the bait. Don't let the enemy destroy you by shutting you down. Don't let the enemy consume you by overwhelming you with problems and the frustrations of life. Don't let the enemy annihilate you because he wasn't the one who put you here in the first place, God did! You were created to be so.
Be empowered, be inspired and don't take the bait. Allow God to continue to show you the enemy scheme, tricks and gimmicks. You are an overcomer, Now Stand!
